Every year a lot of us are waiting for Thanksgiving and Christmas, making plans on what we are going to cook or make for these special days. One of our Heritage drink is Coquito which is a Puerto Rico thick and creamy tropical drink. Today I am going to let you know of my best Puerto Rican virgin Coquito recipe.
What is Coquito?
Coquito meaning “Little Coconut” in Spanish it’s a traditional Christmas drink that originated in Puerto Rico. The coconut-based alcoholic beverage is similar to eggnog, sometimes being called the Puerto Rican Eggnog.

Does Coquito Have Eggs?
There is a huge debate on this question. But All I can say is I do not add in any eggs. Back in the day they would add eggs but now that we can find condense milk you don’t have to add the eggs. Condense milk gives it a nice smooth and rich taste.Best Puerto Rican Virgin Coquito Click To Tweet
My recipe Has no eggs nor any rum as that I make it virgin, but yes you can add the rum if you like. This famous drink I make it for Thanksgiving and Christmas it is part of the traditions among other drinks and food.
What will you need?
Other then the blender, pot and water You will need the following:
- 1 can of Evaporated Milk
- 1 can of condensed Milk
- 1 can of Coconut Milk
- 1 can of Coconut Cream
- 4 Cinnamon Sticks
- 1 tbsp of Cinnamon (forgot to include in picture)
- 8 cloves
- 1 1/2 tbsp of Vanilla
- 1/2 tsp of Ground ginger or fresh
- 1/2 tsp of nutmeg
To start get a pot and add about 1/2 cup of water 2 cinnamon sticks and 8 cloves. Now heat it up on the stove and leave it till it boils. When it comes to a boil turn it off and let it sit till you are almost done with the mixture.
In the blender add the evaporated milk, condensed milk, coconut cream, coconut milk, cinnamon powder, vanilla, ground ginger, and nutmeg. Mix all of it up. After mixing all of it well get the pot of water mixture take out the cinnamon sticks and the cloves out and pour the mixture water in the blender and blend all together. Then just pour it in the jars that you have and add 1-2 cinnamon stick in them.
There it goes my Best Puerto Rican Virgin Coquito. It is very simple and there are different coquito out there. I play sometimes with the ingredients to our liking and you can too. Like I mention on the title that this is a virgin drink if you want to add the rum for this simple recipe you can add 1 cup of rum and if you are making a bigger batch just double the ingredients.
